Unbiased

  • Most churches are far too inwardly focused.
  • The deepest and most enduring change will only occur in spiritually healthy churches and ministries (and that this is often overlooked).
  • Process matters (see my previous blog) and it’s essential to have the right people involved in the process.
  • Many ministries place a greater value on keeping people happy than leading courageously.
  • It’s better to do a few things very extremely well, but choosing those few things will involve difficult decisions.
  • A high level vision isn’t enough – true strategic direction isn’t established until specific plans and commitments are made.
  • I have other biases, including some that I’m not even aware of. I list these for two reasons. First, if you consider hiring me as a consultant, you should know I will listen carefully and will keep my biases from driving the conversation, but I’m not unbiased. Second, I hope it will encourage you to examine your own biases and recognize how they impact your leadership and your organization. It’s easy to receive my blogs by email.
