much for which to give thanks. I’m thankful that the Creator of the universe loves me and that my eternal destiny with Him is secure. I’m blessed with a wonderful family – my wife, children (including a new daughter-in-law), parents, and siblings and their families. I’m thankful that we are healthy and that our material needs are provided for (and much more). In truth, these are the things that matter, and I don’t ever want to forget to be deeply thankful for them. Since this blog space is mostly devoted to “great and godly” leadership, I also want to reflect on some of the things in my career journey, especially over the past year, that cause me to stop and give thanks. I’m thankful for …
- … friends who have believed in me and encouraged me at times when I’ve doubted.
- … the rich variety of people, churches, and ministries that I’ve been able to work with, and the ways that they have taught and inspired me.
- … passages in God’s Word that have encouraged me when I’ve been down and that have held up a mirror to reveal dark places in my life that need to be surrendered to God.
- … the hard lessons, because these are the seasons when I’ve learned the most.
- … teachers and others, all the way back to high school, who shaped my gifts to the point where I could write three books.
- … the opportunity to serve God’s Church through my consulting, speaking, and coaching, and for glimpses that this work is having a deep, lasting impact.
